Youth councils have been legally mandated since 2015. They serve as the voice of young people, as a space for growth and learning, and as a platform to advance issues that matter to them. Below is a brief summary of my own years of service on youth councils.

Niin kuin otsikko sanoi kerron tässä koulukiusaamisesta sekä asioista mitä se voi aiheuttaa ja mitä se on aiheuttanut minulle sekä mitä se edelleen aiheuttaa minulle. Kiusaaminen koulussa voi olla helvetillistä mutta siitä seuraavat asiat voivat olla vielä helvetin kaltaisempia.
Okei, elikkäs olen Eino Koskinen ja olen nuorisovaltuustossa kotikaupungissani Kaarinassa. Käyn peruskoulun viimeistä luokkaa eli 9. luokka-astetta. Olen hyvinkin kiinnostunut politiikasta, historiasta ja monista muistakin asiosta. During my Youth Council career I managed to work in almost every possible position. My path began during fall of 2017 when I joined local youth council in Kaarina. First term was practicing but after that the youth council work became my most loved hobby.
For the first time, I was elected as a youth representative to the Social and Health (municipal) Board for the years 2019–2021. During this term, I experienced, among other things, the COVID-19 pandemic and the social and healthcare reform by the Marin government—events that were truly unforgettable to witness from the front row. In the following term, I served on the Education Committee and as the secretary of the youth council. In my fourth term in Kaarina, I served as the chairperson of the youth council, guiding its activities—and we accomplished great things.
As a Youth council we, for example, got a municipal moped garage, develop engament in the city, organized events for younglings and other residents & influenced in the city's decisions.
I joined the National Union of Finnish Youth Councils in 2020, the year of the pandemic, participating in my first remote events. I was trained as a local trainer in the fall of 2021 and have since trained dozens of youth councils across Finland. Within the union, I held leadership roles for three years, focusing on improving regional operations ("regional reform"), increasing engagement, and renewing commissioned trainings together with our staff. I served as the Vice President of the Southwest Finland district for one year (2022) and subsequently joined the union board, eventually becoming the first vice president. I also ran for chairperson at the Tampere national assembly in 2024 but lost the vote. This defeat was tough—not only because my dream of a full-time role in youth advocacy was temporarily broken, but also because the election process itself was particularly demanding. The last six months of my term as youth council chairperson were carried out more or less in a civil-servant style.
In addition, I held various inter-municipal positions that entrusted me with responsibility. Most notably, I was one of the first members and deputy members of a wellbeing service county's youth council in Southwest Finland (2022–2024). A project I initiated was securing youth representation on the public transport board—we succeeded in gaining seats there as well as on the Waste Management board.
Joining the youth council has been the best decision of my life. The path has taught me a great deal, and I found a community that has been truly life-saving. The work has also brought a full spectrum of emotions.
I have always been passionate about youth council matters, and being a youth council member will always remain part of me.
Eino on ahkera ja idearikas kollega, jolla on kyky kehittää kokonaisuuksia ja hyödyntää kokemustaan työssään. Lisäksi hän on taitava kohtamaan ihmisiä ja tulee toimeen jokaisen kanssa.
Paras puheenjohtajapari, jota vois toivoa ja mulla on puheenjohtajana aina semmone olo että on aina joku, jonka kanssa tehdä tätä yhdessä, etenkin silloin kun ei jaksa tehdä yksin.
Olen tuntenut Einon parisen vuotta ja hän on ystävänä ainutlaatuinen ja luotettava. Eino on aina siellä, missä häntä tarvitaan, eikä ole ollut hetkeä milloin Eino ei olisi ollut valmis auttamaan.
