2019-21 term

The first elections for the youth council were held in spring 2019 and I managed to get through to the next term, yes! This term I started to become more active in youth council activities, partly because other hobbies had ended, partly because I had no friends, and also because the first thoughts about future work in society or politics started to bubble up in my head. When the corona outbreak broke out, I also participated in the first Nuva ry remote active days, and I also got to repost on the association's Instagram story for the first time.

During the term, the youth council received a representation seat with the right to speak and be present in the city council, and the cooperation with the sponsor councilors improved. Replacing iPads with laptops in middle school was one of the big topics of the council term.

Moped garage

In December 2020, I got the idea for a moped garage and set out to promote it. I think I was in contact with at least three different municipalities where one had been or had been attempted to be established. I also read documents, news and emails related to the matter for hours. In March, the matter was submitted as a council initiative by the sponsoring councillor, which went through! However, the work did not end there, but the preparation of the civil service personnel began. The matter had to be promoted in many different ways, including the original location did not work and another had to be found. We also had to remind ourselves about the financing of the garage in the following years.

During the council term, I also started to think more about my own political thinking. Although I didn't dare to express all my opinions or necessarily always ask more about things, I still thought a lot.

During the 2019-2021 term, the Youth Council was chaired by Anni Toivonen in 2019-20 and Rasmus Hakala in 2020-21. Tua Halen served as vice chair and Iina Toikka in 2019-20 and Kaarlo Noponen in 2020-21 as secretary.
