Work as a city councilor

I was elected in April 2025 as a member of the Kaarina City Council for the term 2025-2029. The first city council meeting will be held on 2 June. The meeting will elect, among other things, the composition of the city government.

After Easter, we will begin political negotiations both within the SDP and with other council groups. Our group is in a strong position in these negotiations, as we increased our number of seats by 3 as election winners. The Coalition Party's lead narrowed in these elections.

At the time of the election, our oldest councillors are 74-year-old Irja Gustafsson (sd.), Hannu Rautanen (G) & Hannu Hurme (kok.).

In short, the parties can be divided along the left-right axis and the conservative-liberal axis. The Left Alliance and the Social Democrats are left-wing and labor parties and liberals, with the Left Alliance being the most liberal on average. The National Coalition Party, the Finns Party, the Christian Democrats and the Finnish People's Party are right-wing parties, of which the Christian Democrats and the Finns Party are the most conservative. The Greens and the Centre Party have diverse economic policy thinking, the Greens are clearly a liberal party and the Centre Party is particularly a promoter of the issues of the rural population.
